Ladder Play
Welcome to the Summer 2025 Pickleball Ladder!
For those new to the club, TLN Pickleball Ladders operate on a 10-week seasonal cycle, throughout winter, spring, summer, and fall. This year’s Summer Ladder will run from July 9th to September 16th. The ladders are managed using Global Pickleball Network software (GPN).
How TLN Pickleball Ladder Matches Work
Each Sunday, registered players receive an email invitation to confirm their availability for the upcoming Wednesday–Tuesday play period.
- Sign-Up Deadline: Players must respond by Tuesday at noon to participate in the week's matches.
- Match Assignments: After the deadline, round-robin matches are organized into groups of 4 or 5 players, based upon skill level. Match details are then sent out to participants.
- Scheduling Matches: Players coordinate among themselves to set a convenient date and time to play their matches during the designated play window (Wednesday morning to Tuesday noon). Please note that ladders must not be scheduled during the second session of morning club hours.
- Posting Results: Once games are completed, results are entered into the Global Pickleball Network (GPN) software.
- Frequency: This process is repeated weekly.
Registration Information for TLN Ladder Participants
- First-Time Participants: If this is your first time joining the TLN Ladder, please register using this link with the Global Pickleball Network (GPN). Registration is free and only needs to be completed once. No premium license is required.
- Returning Participants & Newly Registered Players: If you’ve participated in a TLN Ladder before or have recently registered with GPN, use this link to sign up for the Summer 2025 Ladder.
Flexible Participation
Participation in the ladder is completely flexible—you are not required to play every week. Feel free to register for the ladder even if you have upcoming vacations, business trips, or other commitments. However, please refrain from signing up for a particular week if your availability is limited, as frequent conflicts can make scheduling matches challenging.
Additional Notes
- Foursomes and Fivesomes:
- If the number of players isn’t divisible by 4, fivesomes will be formed.
- The first player listed in the group is responsible for contacting others to schedule matches. Use the MTL Directory for contact info (texts usually work best).
- Substitutes:
- If a player can’t make it, the player is responsible for finding a substitute. Ask around, or use the TLN Pickleball WhatsApp group to find a sub.
- Anyone from the pickleball club can sub. Aim to match skill levels.
- Equipment:
- Pre-filled scorecards, clipboards, and pens will be placed in the cabinet by the courts.
- After matches, place completed scorecards back in the cabinet for collection and recording of record results in GPN.
- Gameplay Details:
- The first listed player serves first; the first listed player on the opposing team receives first.
- Between matches, groups should paddle-stack in their normal box.
- Subs and Scores:
- On the scorecard, scratch out the missing player’s name, write "Sub," and record scores.
- Check the box for the winners.
